Traineeship for the International Development Unit – Center of Expertise in Energy


Functie omschrijving

1. Work hand in hand with Stantec’s Head of CoE SE to support Stantec BE operational teams throughout ongoing activities:

- Operational support:

o Participate to CoE SE’s support to business development activities related to energy project proposals (e.g. by contributing to technical methodology drafting and/or review).

o Participate to CoE SE’s support to project management teams (e.g. by participating to energy project reports technical reviews).

o When needed, support internal experts on assignment to perform various tasks (report drafting, desk research, etc.)

- Knowledge creation:

o Develop factsheets/documents/slide packs on specific topics (e.g. hydrogen value chain, brief note on carbon pricing in Europe, etc.) to provide experts with ready to use content on projects

o Support Stantec’s Head of CoE SE in creating new internal trainings on various topics (e.g. introduction to the energy transition, energy landscape in Africa)

2. Lead the creation of a knowledge management database:

To support business development and project management teams in efficiently tapping into past and ongoing projects information and knowledge:

- Define with Stantec’s Head of CoE SE the database role, structure, and corresponding characteristic

- Select the most appropriate tool for its creation (e.g. MS Access, etc.)

- Populate the database with extensive review of past project information structure, location, and content.

Functie eisen

- You have an academic degree in Engineering, (Energy) Economics or political science, with strong interest in the energy transition and sustainability.

- Professional/Academic experience in the field of energy or in a similar technical assistance environment would be considered as an asset.

- You have strong analytical skills, are able to synthesize various data into concepts and derive key conclusions which you can assertively present and defend.

- Knowledge of the European Commission external assistance policies would be considered as an advantage.

- Languages: solid written and spoken English. Knowledge of French would be considered as an asset.

- IT-skills: advanced use of MS Office tools. Any knowledge of / past experience with database software would be a must.

- Multitask personality, rigorous, accuracy and attention to detail, with a dynamic work ethic approach.

- Creative, communicative, open-minded and results oriented.


The traineeship will take place in our office in La Hulpe, Belgium and will start as soon as possible for a period of max six months. It will be formalised through a Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle (CIP, EUR900/month), allowing graduated candidates and junior professionals only to apply.
