Functie omschrijving

BISCI is pleased to offer the role of Junior Researcher. One of the main projects at BISCI is the Fair and Smart Data Spearhead, that has just kicked off. The mission of this spearhead is to bring together key partners to research the solutions needed to create fair and smart global value networks and develop good practice working examples The aim is for farmers to receive a fair value/decent living for their goods produced (agricultural commodities), including fair value for their provision of CO2 data that multinationals are beginning to require in the value chains.

The intern will work in an autonomous way, closely supported by BISCI project managers. The role consists of analysing certain topics that are of critical importance to the project. The overviews to be created range from high-level analysis to detailed analysis of existing research. Part of the challenge is also to present the findings of the analysis in a compelling and impactful way. The analysis will contribute to shaping this impactful project.

This internship is a unique opportunity to learn about sustainability, more specifically global supply chain dynamics. You will further develop your structured analysis skills and learn in depth expertise about current hot topics.

Requirements are to have a background or strong interest in sustainability and supply chain management. Additionally, the student is expected to actively develop his/her analytical skillset and have a strong eagerness to learn.

The activities of the internship consist of:

  • Collation of secondary data, for instance to build a framework on what ways there are to create value for smallholders from data and current projects in this field, what projects there currently are, to explore the primary registration of carbon credits and market trends driven by policy changes
  • Assimilating and summarising academic readings for input into practical research and approach
  • Working closely in a team to develop compelling insights on dynamics in value chains, that will be used by BISCI to coordinate the FSD Spearhead project
