CPB is looking for five new colleagues in the Tax and Budget sector


Functie omschrijving

What you will be doing

§ You will be working within a team of highly skilled professionals.

§ Your work will involve quantifying the effects of policy, producing public finance projections for the Dutch government and conducting policy-relevant research.

§ Using and developing scientific methods and techniques, you will contribute to the maintenance and improvement of CPB’s models.

§ You will answer questions from external parties and share your analyses with policymakers and researchers.

§ Senior staff head up project teams, initiate new research, regularly publish in scientific journals, actively manage a network that stretches from the political domain to academia, and act as representatives for our organisation.

Functie eisen

Who we are looking for

§ You have a university degree, preferably in economics or econometrics.

§ You have demonstrable affinity with both policy issues and quantitative economic analyses.

§ You are a team player who will actively share knowledge, information and ideas with others.

§ You are willing to learn Dutch if you are not yet fluent but otherwise meet the job requirements.

Required competences

§ You have strongly developed analytical skills and are able to present new solutions, ideas and unexpected perspectives.

§ Your opinions are informed by rational arguments, and you arrive at them after careful deliberation.

§ You are able to explain complex issues in a clear and understandable manner, both within CPB and externally. You also know how to convince others of certain ideas or viewpoints using sound and compelling arguments.

§ You are results-oriented and able to meet deadlines.

Terms of employment

§ A 36-hour working week with a flexible schedule (in consultation with your supervisor/manager).

§ Excellent educational and training opportunities, including for PhD research.

§ A three-year contract. After two years, we will tell you whether or not your appointment will be converted into a permanent contract.

§ CPB greatly values personal development and will make agreements with you about a learning and development process for your first two years of employment.

§ A gross monthly salary ranging between €3,097 and €5,343 for a full-time appointment. This can be extended to €6,786 for senior staff, depending on their knowledge and experience.

§ A so-called individual choice budget (IKB). The IKB consists of extra salary (16.37% of the gross annual salary) and time.

CPB Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis is a research institution that conducts socially relevant economic policy analyses, primarily for the government and the House of Representatives. CPB also produces economic projections, acting as a bridge between science and policy.
